Tonda Lovelace
Tribal Council
Tonda Lovelace is a descendant of Elston Major, a former Chief of the Mattaponi tribe. She is mother to three beautiful daughters and called “mimi” to three free spirited grandsons. Tonda proudly served in the U.S Army and has been an active member of her community for years. Volunteering at local homeless shelters and food pantries is something she is passionate about. Tonda gained leadership experience while serving her community with organizations such as the Girl Scouts of America and the Parent Teacher Association. Tonda is newly retired after 40 years of service in the banking industry. She is looking forward to spending more time with her family and traveling.
In her words, "I am beyond grateful for this opportunity to serve on the Mattaponi Tribal Council and I strive to contribute in any way to help the council gain federal recognition. I look forward to working with tribal and council members to ensure the tribe will thrive as a strong community and we continue to learn and honor our culture. I am proud to be a part of the Mattaponi family."
